In the lower elevations, the climate is mainly dry.
Winters are mild with the occasional frost.
Summers are extremely hot, with high temperatures exceeding 125 ° F (52 ° C) in the desert areas.
Large temperature swings, as much as 50 ° F (28 ° C) often occur between day and night.
The northern 3rd of Arizona has significantly higher altitudes and cooler climates.
